Hi just wanted to say how brilliant the learn to ride session was at Markeaton last week. The guys who helped my daughter were fab and in 5 days she's gone from only ever having sat on a bike twice (and peddling backwards!) to being able to confidently ride a bike without any help or stabilisers. We'll definitely be booking for our younger children when they're old enough. Thanks again Claire.

I just wanted to take the time to thank your team for the great training given at Silverhill this year. Gregor has come home with a renewed vigour about cycling and has enthused both our house and his mum’s house to get back out on bikes to do some family cycling!

Thank you Cycle Derby – the children had an absolutely fantastic time yesterday at the velodrome! ...I was so impressed by them all and I think it's fair to say, they exceeded their own expectations!.

Case Study

After School Cycle Clubs - Sarah's story

Sarah first got the buzz for cycling when she took part in one of our organised Cyclo Cross races aged just 9 her dad helped us unload our van of Isla bikes and that was it! She joined her local club raced in the local cyclo x leagues, had a go on the track and MTB and some six years later at the age of 15 Sarah is representing the East Midlands Cycling Team in the UK School Games

Fantastic training - Sally

I just wanted to pass on my thanks for the fantastic training you gave my son on a recent cycle training course for Year 6's at Breadsall CE Primary school. As well as thoroughly enjoying the week, his cycling skills and confidence have improved tremendously. He now rides a sensible distance away from the kerb and uses his 'observation skills' . His road sense has improved significantly not only when riding a bike, but is also obvious when he is a car passenger by the comments he makes about other road users. Many of the other Year 6 parents have mentioned what a good course they thought it was. You've obviously inspired several of his school friends who have recently started to cycle to and from school. Can you please pass on my thanks to all at Cycle Derby.

Learn to Ride

My 5 year old son attended for his first session on
Wednesday. He was a total non rider and was very anxious about not having
stabilisers. He was taught by Paul who was nothing short of amazing. By the end
of our first lesson Jack was riding, albeit very wobbly. I was fortunate enough
to be able to book a second session with Paul, 2 days later and by the end of
this lesson, we had a happy rider. Paul also gave us advice on which bike would
suit our son best and he was able to try a couple for size. I cannot praise both your service and Paul highly enough
and as such wanted to pass on my thanks formally. I also work for DCC and know
only too well how we need to showcase the brilliant work we do. This is a
shining example of what Derby does well. This half term, the Cycle Derby team
have successfully enabled many children and young people to learn to ride with
confidence. I haven’t stopped smiling all day and I’ve told all my friends just
how brilliant the Cycle Derby team are.

Thank you once again, I’m truly overwhelmed and the sessions were worth every penny!
